Do I need to get an extra phone line to connect to the Internet?
Not necessarily, but it will affect your ability to receive incoming calls while you are on the Internet.  If you are concerned about missing phone calls or plan on spending a significant amount of time online, I would suggest getting the extra line. An installation and monthly charge apply to each additional phone line. To find out more about availability and charges contact a CCTC customer service representative at (254) 893-2003.

What exactly is SPAM?
A spam e-mail is generally defined as an unsolicited mailing, usually to many people. A message written for, and mailed to, one individual that is known to the sender is not spam, and a reply to an e-mail is not spam, unless the reply repeats endlessly.

Spam e-mailers have become a separate part of the Internet, with their own host computers, methods, and politics. Many Internet sites have begun to forbid spamming, for several reasons – one is a sense that it is unethical, another is that, over time, other Internet sites will stop all e-mail from that site and thus prevent legitimate e-mail from getting through. As a result, spammers have begun to set up their own Internet sites -- sites that cater to, or encourage, spamming.

I can connect to the Internet, via CCTC.net and browse webpages without problems, but I am unable to send e-mail. What can I do?
The most probable cause is that some of your mail settings may not be correct.

I sent an e-mail message and it was returned to me by the Mail Delivery Subsystem. What does this mean?
The most common reason for bounced mail is an error in the spelling of the recipient’s address. Verify that the address you typed is correct. You will also need to open the message and look for 'Session of transcript follows' then a reason of why the message was not able to be delivered. Below are some common reasons for returned e-mail:

user unknown - this means the part before the '@' sign is incorrect. Either it was typed incorrectly OR the person is no longer with that server.

host unknown - this means the part after the '@' sign is incorrect. Either there is an error in the spelling of the address, or that host no longer exists.

If you get other errors, please call CCTC.net Technical Support at (800) 261-5911. They will be able to help determine why your messages are being returned.

What if I only use the Internet 4 or 5 hours a month?
We offer a 5hr Internet service for only $14.95 per month.
